First of all, thank you for the kind words ♡
Even though I’m pretty comfortable with my personal sense of style, I do fall into fashion ruts fairly often, wherein I feel overly self-conscious of how I look (especially if I just got a haircut or if I’m pushing myself beyond my style comfort zone or if strangers are making weird comments about what I’m wearing). If you’re trying to incorporate a new style/element into your daily wardrobe, you should try to merge it with your current style; if you don’t usually play around with color in your day-to-day attire, incorporate a pop of color with an ensemble that you’ve worn before, or try to coordinate a cute and comfy outfit out of apparel in complementary colors (I usually stick with 3-4 colors max per outfit, with either white/cream or black/grey as the anchor to my style palette). If you usually wear jeans/pants, try coordinating a cute skater skirt and tights with your favorite top/tee; if you usually wear t-shirts, you could look for stylish blouses in fun prints or try coordinating your tees with a cardigan or a cool fitted jacket.
If you’re wary of “overdoing it” with colorful/feminine elements, try to stick with simple basics and work from there - I usually start with one statement piece (i.e. a fit-and-flare dress in a bright color/print or a top with a cute collar) and build on it with smaller accents (i.e. jewelry or complementary tights). Similarly, when you breakdown the majority of the outfits I wear, most of them follow a simple formula of dress-tights-shoes-bow (or shirt-skirt-tights-shoes-bow). This is pretty much my equivalent of wearing jeans and a t-shirt.
On a side note, I used to wear a lot of weird shit (and I still do), and even though I have my own list of Styling Regrets, I was usually pretty happy/comfortable with what I was wearing at the time. As long as you’re happy and comfortable with your evolving style, just go with it and try new things :) Anyway, I hope this helped~
