MONDO TO RELEASE ‘BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES’ MUSIC ON LIMITED EDITION VINYL
By Andy Khouri
The boutique merchandise division of the Alamo Drafthouse known for limited edition posters by some of today’s coolest illustrators, Mondo has been expanding its interests into the realm of collectible vinyl music, releasing limited editions of soundtracks for Oblivion, Gravity, Jurassic Park and other films with particularly memorable and cool scores. Mondo’s about to level up with its most ambitious music plan yet: a series of vinyl-only releases of Danny Elfman’s music from Batman: The Animated Series.
Coming to Comic-Con next week, the first selection of music will be available in no fewer than five different designs by five different artists, each with their own distinctive illustration created especially for the 7” vinyl record format. Revealed for the first time by ComicsAlliance, this fabulous Harley Quinn piece by Matt Taylor speaks right to the heart of what’s cool about this project: high style and high fidelity, with palpable affection for the material that’s made the animated series — and Elfman’s thremes in particular — so beloved even 20 years later.

Hey, who’s that reporter in Daredevil #2?
Thanks for the cameo, Chris!
For the record, this is the second time I’ve appeared as a reporter/newscaster in the Marvel universe. Art imitates life and whatnot~

cameron-stewart:

I am overwhelmed and ecstatic and grateful and vindicated. I couldn’t be happier with the tidal wave of support and sincere joy that’s come our way, the (literally) hundreds of pieces of fan art that are being breathlessly drawn faster than I can look at them, the cosplayers already choosing fabrics and causing yellow Dr Martens boots to sell out online. The huge response is a clear sign that despite our detractors we’ve really tapped into something that was waiting to explode. But all of this is for naught if everyone doesn’t actually *buy the book* - so I would really strongly urge everyone who loves the new Batgirl to PREORDER at your local comic shop. Tell them you want it, show your retailer the same excitement for Batgirl that you’ve shown us.

Thanks for all the love, it is returned to you in full.

I still have a massive HeroesCon recap blog post in the works, but considering the comics news today, I wanted to share this amazing commission that Babs Tarr drew for me at HeroesCon

Since Babs was so busy at the con all weekend, I just handed her my sketchbook on Saturday and asked for a commission of Jem, but only if she wasn’t too bombarded with work. When I stopped by her table on Sunday, she surprised me with an illustration of me as Batgirl/Batmangirl and I almost started tearing up on the spot. Thank you so much, Babs - I really can’t wait to see you work your magic on the new Batgirl series this fall.

P.S. Also, thank you, Jordan, for coloring me in

ganbattesisyphus said: I'm really trying to to get into the first volume of Sex Criminals, but for some reason it's just not doing it for me. :( Can you tell me which scenes are your favourites or why you enjoyed it? Cheers Xx

Haha yeah, I can see how Sex Criminals isn’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea. There are plenty of comics that my friends love that I’m just totally not into for various reasons, and that’s fine. Anyway, to answer your question, here are some things that I’ve really enjoyed about Sex Criminals:

 • It’s a fun book about silly sexy hijinks that serves as a nice break from my normal reading list of capes and all-ages comics.
 • I enjoy comics about sexual exploration and sexual compatibility and magical time-stopping orgasms.
 • Jon and Suzie are total babes and #cangetit.
 • The pool scene where Suzie sings “Fat Bottomed Girls” is my favorite thing ever, plus it reminded me of the meta musical humor in Phonogram.
 • Did you see Jon’s glowing d?
