QUI EST-ELLE?

Suspended in disbelief. Frequently breaking the fourth wall. Collector of novelty watches and Kewpie dolls. I run Fashion Tips From Comic Strips and I am the resident superheroic sartorialist on ComicsAlliance.
This one time, I wore a Snorlax Dress. This other time, I was in an Art Brut video. THE END.

We went to King Richard’s Faire yesterday.
We ate turkey legs, saw big cats, swooned over Jacques Ze Whipper, and watched some jousting (and a death match!). Also, two of my roommates got knighted and I got a new tiara.

I AM THE BAT.
In which, I just realized that I never got around to sharing my casual Nausicaä cosplay from Anime Boston a few months ago.

I actually made this two years ago for SDCC 2010 to wear with AK’s Dr. Girlfriend costume; however, aside from the crown and leotard, I wasn’t able to finish the rest of my costume in time before my flight to San Diego. To this day, I still have yet to finish the boots, gloves, and choker.
One of these days, I’ll get around to it. Though at this point, I’d want to redo the leotard and the crown, so the issue is not so much about finishing a couple of accessories, but remaking an entire costume.
These are my grown-up dilemmas.

Black Bat & The Spoiler, cosplayed by Betty Felon & Ali Kay
[Boston Comic Con 2012]At Boston Comic Con, the wonderful Nate Buchman pulled us aside from the sweltering exhibit hall to do a photoshoot in the more secluded areas of the convention center. AK and I have been wanting to cosplay Cass and Steph for a while now, and I’m still in awe that we were able to pull these costumes together before AK moved across the country. We had a great time bringing our favorite BFFs of the former DCU to life, running around the convention with our capes catching the wind.
We plan on bringing Black Bat & The Spoiler to SDCC (after a few upgrades to our costumes), so look out for us in San Diego this Summer!
Note: A super big thank you to Alex & Juli of Twin Bee, for helping us out with Black Bat’s suit and The Spoiler’s hood ♡ Aside from the boots, the rest of the costume pieces were created by me & AK.

My main goal in San Diego is to get a photo of The Spoiler with the Waffle King (the mascot of our favorite diner, The Waffle Spot).

Flashback Friday: Ramona Flowers & Roxy Richter, at San Diego Comic Con 2010
Since San Diego Comic Con 2012 is less than two months away (!), here’s a photo of me & Alicia looking a little bi-furious during our first trip to SDCC. By this point, this was my third Ramona Flowers costume (and technically my fourth Scott Pilgrim-related cosplay), and probably one of my favorite costumes to date.
As for AK, she put up with my insanity during the entire trip and bleached her hair to cosplay Roxy Richter with me. In return, I’ve already made a blood oath with her to camp out for The Hobbit panel this year.

GET ON IT PEOPLE.
Note: I may or may not add more costumes to this list at a later date.
